Roderick opted for clean sightlines where the 3mm plate thickness remains clearly visible throughout. The models are designed modularly: the side panels and legs of the Fennek 80 are the same as those of the Fennek 50.

The flue is designed to be self-draining. There is a 20cm stub on the stove over which the pipe fits, preventing water from entering the stove. The legs are equipped with large robust cap nuts with a stainless steel bolt, so that the fireplace stands clear of the ground and no rust marks appear on the patio.

The door handle is integrated into the right strip of the door. An extra recess in the latch allows you to open the door a small amount and secure it, ideal when starting the fire. The side panels are hooked into the stove and pressed down, securing them; later you can release them by pushing them upwards. The side panels are equipped with air slots to allow air to flow in front of the glass, ensuring clean panes.

Both models have a deep refractory concrete combustion chamber. The same CorTen steel pipes as used for the Quaruba series are used for the flue; the bottom pipe has an adjustable damper to control the flame pattern. Roderick designed a new rain cowl that fits the stove well, optionally available with a spark arrestor.

More about RB73

RB73 designs and produces outdoor fireplaces, wood storage, and outdoor trolleys in Eersel, the Netherlands, handmade in Holland. Characteristic is the use of CorTen steel: a weather-resistant steel that forms a warm, rust-brown patina layer outdoors, giving it a significantly longer lifespan.
